Providence Plastic

History

In 2024 Providence Plastics celebrated its 35th anniversary although its roots and entrepreneurial spirit started more than 50 years ago when Don Carlos Nelli Marsicano immigrated to Mexico from Uruguay in 1968. Seeking refuge from the civil unrest in his home country Don Carlos, no contacts, no job and very little money arrived in Mexico with his wife and two small children. Don Carlos began selling encyclopedia’s door-to-door and through his determination and hard work he eventually started his own business selling used machinery.

Since the 1980’s the Nelli Family built a solid reputation throughout Mexico in the used machinery market. In 1989 the family’s oldest son, Carlos Nelli Garcia approached a potential customer to sell a couple old injection molding machines. This customer did not buy the machines but in turn convinced Carlos Jr. to connect them and start selling them parts. This was the beginning of the transition of the family from a evermore complicated used-machinery market into the plastic injection molding market.

Continuing in his father’s entrepreneurial example, by 1993 Carlos Jr. had create a plastic injection facility. Later Don Carlos would join Carlos Jr. fulltime in the new venture taking his current role as General Manager.

In 2006 the Nelli family invited an American investor, experienced in the injection molding industry to join the venture in order to create new growth opportunities. Since the partnership was forged an engineering and sales office was opened in San Antonio, Texas.

50 years of business has lead Providence Plastics to operate in conservative and austere manner, achieving steady diversified growth while maintaining its debt-to-equity ratio at level much lower than generally accepted as healthy for our industry.
